I have a cat who likes to sleep next to me. In the mornings she wakes me up very sweetly — unless I fail to get up on time. Then she switches to more persuasive methods, and occasionally the pillowcase pays the price.
Since proper pillow covers are not exactly cheap, and ours were disappearing at an alarming rate, I had to come up with an alternative.
Sewing a neat pillow cover with a hidden zipper is not the easiest job. So I designed a much simpler version: no zipper, no buttons — you just slip the pillow inside. It does not fit as perfectly as a factory-made cover, but it works perfectly well.
I bought a few metres of strong bedding fabric from the local fabric shop, the kind used in better hospitals and hotels — almost indestructible. As a pilot project, I sewed six covers in about an hour. My partner washed and ironed them all nicely.
Tested and approved. It works.
